Rivers and streams rose rapidly, with flooding reported particularly along the Nam Tha, Nam Thung, Nam Ngaen, Nam Hoy and Nam Dee rivers. Areas around the Boten Special Economic Zone and Boten International Checkpoint, including Boten, Bopiat, Tin Tok, Tin San and Na Toei villages, were among those affected or at high risk.
At around 6 a.m., rising water from streams in the Boten area overflowed onto roads and flooded homes, offices and other facilities in the special economic zone and nearby communities along the Nam Thung River.
Provincial and district authorities are closely monitoring water levels and have prepared personnel, vehicles, equipment and boats for emergency response. Residents in vulnerable areas have been urged to move belongings and livestock to higher ground and avoid strong currents.
Initial reports indicate damage to agricultural land, rice fields, gardens, homes, roads, schools and other infrastructure, although a full assessment is still under way.
Authorities are continuing damage assessments and relief preparations, including temporary shelters and essential supplies, while urging communities to remain alert to further flooding and landslides.
