Technology Minister Reviews Border Development Projects in Bolikhamxay

KPL - Asean 2024 Minister of Technology and Communications Santisouk Simmalavong visited Xaychamphon District in Bolikhamxay Province on June 12 to assess development needs and review infrastructure projects aimed at supporting socio-economic growth in border areas.

During the working visit, the minister and his delegation met with provincial and district authorities and conducted field inspections to gather information for future planning and policy recommendations. Discussions focused on improving essential infrastructure, including electricity, water supply, telecommunications, internet connectivity, and other public services.
The delegation also inspected operations at the Nam On–Theng Thuoy International Border Checkpoint and visited the border connection area linking Bolikhamxay Province with Ha Tinh Province in Vietnam. Officials reviewed the proposed route of the planned Vientiane–Hanoi Expressway, which is expected to enhance cross-border transport and regional connectivity.
In addition, the minister observed ongoing socio-economic development projects in Xaychamphon District, including road infrastructure, public facilities, residential areas, and the Chongzhen Wind Power Project.
The visit underscored the government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure and digital connectivity in border regions to support sustainable development and closer economic cooperation with neighboring countries.
