Lao President, Chinese Premier Pledge Deeper Cooperation
The two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation and highlighted the significance of 2026, which marks the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the Laos-China Friendship Year.
They welcomed growing cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, energy and connectivity, including the recent inauguration of the 500-kilovolt Laos-China power transmission line. The two sides also praised cooperation between their public security agencies in combating cybercrime.
Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, energy and mining, high technology, infrastructure development, culture, tourism and Mekong-Lancang cooperation. Both sides also agreed to maximize the benefits of the Laos-China Railway and promote more high-level exchanges.
President Thongloun expressed appreciation for China's longstanding support for Laos' development and reaffirmed Laos' commitment to the One-China principle.
Li said the visit would further strengthen the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and pledged continued support for the implementation of bilateral cooperation projects.
The meeting took place during President Thongloun's state visit to China from June 2-6.
