6th Party Congress of Information and Education Commission Ends Successfully

A two-day congress was chaired by Khamphan Pheuyavong, Member of the Politburo of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Head of the Commission for Information and Education of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
The event was honored by the presence of Vilay Lakhamfong, Member of the Politburo and Standing Member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, along with Party Committee members, leadership officials, and full delegates.
Speaking at the closing session, Khamphan Pheuyavong stated that the 6th Party Congress of the Party Committee of the Commission for Information and Education was conducted in a lively atmosphere marked by a high sense of responsibility. Delegates thoroughly studied and provided comments on the Political Report and the Five-Year Development Plan for Information and Education Work (2026–2030), which will serve as guiding documents for the leadership and implementation of the Commission’s work over the next five years.
The Congress officially adopted both the Political Report and the Development Plan for Information and Education Work. Khamphan emphasized that the successful conclusion of the Congress represents only the initial step in defining directions and target missions for future information and education activities. He called on all relevant sectors to translate the resolutions and spirit of the Congress into concrete actions in order to create strong transformation and higher effectiveness in information and education work as entrusted by the Party.

On the same occasion, Boungpheng Chanthadala, Chief of the Office of the Commission for Information and Education, noted that the Congress discussed and unanimously approved the Political Report of the 5th-term Party Committee, which objectively reviewed the achievements of information and education work over the past five years. The Congress also approved the directions, priority missions, and the 2026–2030 Development Plan consisting of 9 programs and 42 projects.
In addition, delegates adopted the Inspection Report on the leadership performance of the 5th-term Party Committee, recognizing its efforts in leading and directing political tasks and achieving significant positive outcomes. Delegates also exchanged views on improving the organizational structure of the Commission, strengthening theoretical research, enhancing information and education services, reinforcing Party leadership over mass organizations, and promoting the role of media work. Discussions reflected broad unity and consensus on the Political Report, strategic directions, target missions, and the overall outcomes of the Congress.
The Congress also exercised democratic centralism in electing the new-term Party Executive Committee in accordance with Party regulations and established criteria. Out of 20 candidates, including 4 women, 17 members, including 1 woman, were elected to the 6th-term Party Executive Committee of the Commission for Information and Education.
During its inaugural session, the newly elected Executive Committee unanimously elected Khamphan Pheuyavong as Secretary of the Party Executive Committee and Vansy Khuamoua as Deputy Secretary. Xakhon Phommalat was elected Chair of the Inspection Committee, while Savang Dalasenh, Laxay Kongkeomanivong, Chansouk Phimmavan, and Kongboune Soulivong were elected as Vice Chairs of the Party Inspection Committee.
