Savannakhet Celebrates Lao New Year B.E. 2569 with Grand Festivities

(KPL) Authorities in Savannakhet Province officially launched the Lao New Year (Pi Mai Lao) celebrations for the Buddhist Era 2569 on April 14, with vibrant and joyful ceremonies held in Kaysone Phomvihane City.
The event was attended by Ms. Daovone Xaisouliane, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairperson of the Provincial Administration Committee; Mr. Valiya Sichanthongthip, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Secretary of the Kaysone Phomvihane City Party Committee; as well as the Consuls General of Vietnam and Thailand to Savannakhet.
Also present were provincial and city leaders, senior citizens, retired officials, entrepreneurs, merchants, and a large number of residents.
Mr. Bounsy Khounnasene, Chairman of the Kaysone Phomvihane City Administration, reported that preparations for the celebration had been completed. He noted that every mid-April, Lao people nationwide gather to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new year, preserving a long-standing cultural tradition.
This year marks the Year of the Horse, B.E. 2569 (C.S. 1388 / A.D. 2026), an important cultural heritage deeply rooted in Lao Buddhist traditions.
