Lao and Cambodian Agriculture Ministries Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

(KPL) The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Lao PDR and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia held a bilateral meeting in Vientiane during a working visit by a Cambodian delegation from April 30 to May 3, 2025.
The meeting was co-chaired by Lao Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. Linkham Douangsavanh, and his Cambodian counterpart, Mr. Dith Tina. Delegations from both countries participated in discussions aimed at deepening collaboration in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries.
The two sides exchanged views on a range of topics, including agricultural cooperatives, rice production for commercial purposes, private sector engagement, trade facilitation, freshwater fisheries, aquatic biodiversity, and forest conservation—with particular attention to freshwater dolphin protection.
Both delegations reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing their strategic partnership by promoting investment in agricultural inputs and boosting bilateral trade. Special emphasis was placed on private sector cooperation, notably in the production and supply of fertilizers—a field in which Laos has significant potential.
Minister Linkham expressed his appreciation to Minister Dith Tina for leading the Cambodian delegation and co-chairing the meeting. He also called for continued collaboration between the two ministries to drive sustainable development in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. This cooperation, he emphasized, should align with goals of industrialization and modernization, and contribute to improving livelihoods and building stronger economic foundations in both nations.
