On September 26, 2024, Gen. Chansamone Chanyalath, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, welcomed the delegations of the ASEAN Defence Senior Officials’ Meeting (ADSOM) and ASEAN Defence Senior Officials’ Meeting-Plus (ADSOM-Plus) in Vientiane.
(KPL) On September 26, 2024, Gen. Chansamone Chanyalath, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, welcomed the delegations of the ASEAN Defence Senior Officials’ Meeting (ADSOM) and ASEAN Defence Senior Officials’ Meeting-Plus (ADSOM-Plus) in Vientiane.
The meetings were held between September 24-27, 2024.
During the reception, Maj. Gen. Somphone Mittaphone, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Department of the Lao People's Army and Head of the ASEAN Defence Senior Officials for Laos, who chaired the meetings, presented a summary of the successful outcomes of both ADSOM and ADSOM-Plus.
Gen. Chansamone Chanyalath warmly welcomed the visiting delegations, praising the productive and constructive discussions held during the meetings. He highlighted the importance of these gatherings in making preparations for the upcoming 18th ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) and the 11th ADMM-Plus, scheduled for November this year.
He also expressed his gratitude to ASEAN and ASEAN-Plus member countries for their support in helping Laos successfully host the ASEAN Summits, which will take place in October 2024.
