Laos’ import-export value reaches 1 billion US dollars

KPL (KPL) The total volume of Laos’ imports and exports in the first six months of 2022 reached 1 billion US dollars, according to the Lao Trade Portal.

 (KPL) The volume of Laos’ foreign trade in the first six months of 2022 reached 1 billion US dollars, excluding incomes from electricity export, the Lao Trade Portal reported last week.

The country recorded export value at about 456 million US dollars and the import value at about 589 million US dollars. Obviously the country had  a trade deficit of more than 133 million US dollars.

The main export products included mixed gold and gold bars valued at 62 million US dollars, products made of paper - 42 million US dollars, copper ores - 32 million US dollars, rubber 21 million US dollars, iron ores 23 million US dollars, bananas 16 million US dollars, clothes 23 million US dollars, shoes 17 million US dollars, sugar 18 million US dollars and glass and product made of glass 13 million US dollars.

The main imports consisted of vehicles, excluding motorcycles and tractors, valued at 35 million US dollars, diesel - 101 million US dollars, mechanical equipment - 31 million US dollars, steel and steel products 29 million US dollars, pharmaceutical products 12 million US dollars, plastic products 15 million US dollars, electrical wires and cables 20 million US dollars, petrol 25 million US dollars, industrial waste 13 million US dollars and chemical products 14 million US dollars.

Main export markets included China 154 million US dollars, Vietnam 106 million US dollars, Thailand 63 million US dollars, Australia 43 million US dollars and India 13 million US dollars. Import markets included Thailand 307 million US dollars, China 141 million US dollars, United States 39 million US dollars, Vietnam 31 million US dollars,  and Japan 13 million US dollars.
