Lao and Vietnamese News Agencies Deepen Comprehensive Cooperation

The meeting took place as part of an official visit by KPL Director General Vannasin Simmavong and his delegation to VNA from 9–14 November. They were welcomed by VNA Director General Vu Viet Trang and senior officials.
Both sides reviewed progress made under their 2022–2025 cooperation agreement, highlighting advances in information exchange, professional collaboration and mutual support in news coverage. They also discussed plans to expand joint work under a new 2026–2030 agreement.

Over the past year, the two agencies have supported each other in delivering timely coverage of major national events. KPL has assisted VNA’s Laos bureau in carrying out its mandate, while VNA has helped promote information showcasing the close Laos–Vietnam partnership. Joint photo exhibitions marking significant national occasions have also received strong public and government backing.

Looking ahead, the agencies agreed to strengthen cooperation in digital transformation, the application of artificial intelligence in journalism, professional training, and exchanges of leadership and reporter delegations. They also committed to closer coordination in combating misinformation through verification of unconfirmed reports.
Mr Vannasin expressed appreciation for VNA’s hospitality and the well-organised programme in Nghe An Province and Hanoi, describing the visit as safe, smooth and productive. He reaffirmed KPL’s commitment to expanding practical cooperation.

Both Directors General said KPL and VNA would continue to support each other professionally and operationally to further strengthen the Laos–Vietnam relationship.
Following the talks, the two agencies signed a new cooperation agreement in professional fields, witnessed by officials from both sides.
