(KPL) The authorities of Xieng Khuang Province have so far paid their best efforts for preparations to host the 11th National Games which are scheduled for Dec 13-22, 2022.
The completed works include the main football stadium, golf course, indoor bowling stadium and five sports fields as well as accommodation facilities, according to Vice Xieng Khuang Governor Sivilay Sengchaleurn on Nov 11.
“The host has appointed a committee responsible for preparing food and accommodation for both domestic and foreign senior leaders as well as coaches and athletes,” said Sivilay.
Xieng Khuang will send 576 athletes to compete for 25 sporting events.
He has called on local residents hand in hand to be a good host.
The 10th National Games was held in Oudomxay Province in 2014, where the Ministry of Defense took the first place with 61 gold medals, while Vientiane took second place with 55 gold medals.
The 11th National Games was originally scheduled to take place in 2018, however, preparations including the construction of sporting venues experienced delays. In 2019, major flooding caused the games to be delayed once again, while in 2020 the games was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
