(KPL) On Nov 28, Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane received a telephone call from his Thai counterpart, Maris Sangiampongsa, who extended congratulations on his recent appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR.
During their conversation, Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa commended Mr. Thongsavanh for assuming his new role and highlighted the importance of the strong and enduring friendship between Laos and Thailand.
The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the longstanding relations and cooperation between the two neighbouring nations. They emphasized the value of their strategic partnership, particularly in achieving sustainable growth and development, and underscored the need to enhance cooperation in areas such as economics, trade, and investment for the mutual benefit of their peoples.
Recognizing the effectiveness of their collaborative mechanisms, which span 11 frameworks, the ministers agreed to continue advancing these initiatives to yield tangible and lasting results.
Special emphasis was placed on the Mekong Cooperation Mechanism as a platform for achieving mutual progress and benefits.
Both sides agreed on the importance of fostering closer ties and collaboration at all levels.
In light of the upcoming 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Laos and Thailand in 2025, the ministers agreed to work together under established cooperation mechanisms to promote the celebration of this milestone through meaningful activities.
