(KPL) One hundred forty-two students of Matthayom 4 and 7 (grades 9 and 12), representing each province across the country will sit the National Best Student Exam 2017 on April 25 at the National University of Laos.
The examination for Matthayom 4 and 7 comprises mathematics, Lao Language-literature, physics and chemistry as in previous years.
This year’s examination will draw 72 students sitting for Matthayom 4 category including 29 females, and 70 students for Matthayom 7 category including 28 females.
The number of female students is higher than that of last year, the Director General of Secondary Education Department, Mr Sisouk Vongvichit disclosed in an interview on April 21 in Vientiane Capital.
Mr Sisouk also said that Oudomxay province was unable to select the best year 7 students for maths and chemistry this year.
The National Best Student Exam is an opportunity for students to show their competence, knowledge, gifts and creativity. The top three in each category will be granted a scholarship to pursue education at higher educational institutes.
As part of the annual exam programme, the contesters will take part in a quiz on April 27 where questions on science and social studies will be asked.
The winner of each subject will represent Lao PDR in regional and international exam events.
