(KPL) Phu Bia Mining (PBM) has been awarded a Lao Labour Order Medal from the Prime Minister of Laos in recognition of its upgrade of road No. 12 in Khammouane Province.
The medal was presented by Vice Governor of Khammouane, Mr Bounmy Phimmasone, to PBM representative, Mr Vanhxay Vangkouthao, at a special ceremony held at the Khammouane Provincial Administration Office on March 23, 2017.
Road No. 12 is a major road on PBM’s concentrate haulage route in Vietnam, extending from the Thakhek Transit Facility to the Vietnam border. The upgrade has improved traffic conditions in both the Boualapha District and Khammouane Province.
PBM’s upgrade of the road began in 2015 with the widening of a 200-meter section, followed by paving the road to smooth the surface, which was completed in April 2015.
PBM Chairman, Mr Chanpheng Bounnaphol, said receiving the medal was an honour which recognised the company’s commitment to improving basic infrastructure in the communities where it operates.
